Wi-Fi Speed Camera’s Come To Britain

Written on April 27, 2008 – 12:35 pm | by admin |

Inner-City streets could soon see a new type of speed camera which use Wi-Fi technology to communicate with each camera. The new speed camera’s transmit images of vehicle registrations to eachother making it increasingly difficult for motorists to dodge their watchful eye.

One of the main advantages of using the wireless Wi-Fi technology is that unlike the existing ‘Gatso’ type camera’s, there isn’t the hassle of digging up roads to lay cables for the camera’s connectivity.

RedSpeed, based in Kidderminster will be testing their camera’s on the Northbound stretch of the Blackwall Tunnel for motorists exceeding the imposed 30mph speed limit.
